O Christmas Trees...

Christmas trees make me happy. How can they not? Sparkly and bright and shiny... even sad Charlie Brown trees make me say "Awwww...". So while I normally loathe the email forwards that we're all inundated with, I liked the one a friend sent with...

*loud, booming voice*

Christmas trees from arooooound the woooooorld!

Washington, DC
Our nation's capital... if you look closely you can see Harry Reid and Mitch McConnell wrestling it out over health care reform in the rotunda.

Tokyo
I wonder if they sell Christmas trees in vending machines in Tokyo. The sell just about everything else in vending machines...

Prague
Odd lighting distribution on the tree. I have a theory about that - a friend of mine worked in Prague for 5 years after college. He claims it is common practice to drink vodka pretty much from lunchtime through the rest of the day at the office and into the evening. I don't know if this was just to rationalize his raging alcoholism when he returned to the States, but it would explain that decorating job. But gosh, Prague is beautiful. I want to go to there.

Venice
Murano glass... it's one of those things that can be very pretty or pretty ugly. In this case, I think it makes a lovely, interesting tree.

Moscow
LED, baby! I'm still getting used to having bright purple/blue lights on the tree. I'm an old school, big colored bulbs kinda girl.

Portugal
Funky and bright. I'd say that's just like Portugal, but I have no idea if that's true. I need to get my butt out and see more of the world. *sigh*

Germany
Awwwww.... so pretty.

Paris
Doesn't it make you want to shop, shop, shop?

Rome
This is the tree at the Vatican. I don't know about you, but it is a little disappointing. I mean, c'mon Catholics - this is your big season!

Madrid
I LOVE the big ornaments on this tree. And the sign makes me think there's a street fair with a ferris wheel. I wonder how you say "creepy carny" in Spanish...

London
Eh. I suppose the minimalist in me should find this appealing. But eh.

Frankfurt
Doesn't it almost look like it is inverted? Crazy krauts...

Unknown Locale
Very pretty... but how did they get the electricity out to the trees? Ahhh, the wonders and mysteries of the season...

My Desk
$5 from Walgreens and it makes my little dark heart happy every single time I look at it. Almost as much as the turkey picture that my 4 year old niece colored for me. Quite talented, isn't she? This picture doesn't capture just how sparkly the tree is when the lights hit it. It's almost like Edward's skin in the sunlight. *sigh* I fucking hate Twilight.

  4. The germany one is serene looking. Very peaceful =) And your right, the london one is boring, but the photo is awesome.

I like your little desk tree! I think I would have done the same thing, only I don't care about my stupid work station enough. And how dare you speak ill of Edward and of Twilight! We can't be friends now! haha!
