The days are flying by, we're officially into autumn and it's almost October already. Sheesh! We received a nasty bout of cold, rainy weather (highs in the 50's... brrr!) for the last couple of days and so now, it has begun. The 9th Annual Who Will Be The First One To Turn On The Heat Standoff.
It's a fun little game Mr. Cheeks and I like to play... basically, we're challenging each other's wussy limits. I'm perfectly fine with putting the flannel sheets on the bed, breaking out the down comforter and wearing extra layers to keep warm. Mr. Cheeks hates being the first to 'break', but he is usually the one who caves in and turns the furnace on for the first time each season.
Why do we play this game? I have no idea. But I do like reminding him that he's soft when that first big heating bill arrives.
Since it is Tunesday and it is chilly and I can't seem to get enough of these funky alt folk bands lately...

Wow! I thought we were the only marrieds playing the thermostat game. :-)
ReplyDeleteAmazing. We play the same game. When our kids left for college, we basically turned off the heat upstairs for the bedrooms (we have two zoned heating systems), basically leaving it at the lowest we can get which is 50 degrees. We have lots of quilts. It promotes togetherness under the sheets, and who can complain about that. And my wife knits beautiful heavy sweaters.
ReplyDeleteSo we play the chicken game too. And we also play the game turning down the heat downstairs. Do I hear 64? 63? 62?
We do the opposite with the AC in the summer. I usually win having grown up without AC. I have learned that my tolerance is exactly 81 degrees, that's inevitably the temp if I decide to switch it on.
ReplyDeleteJust found your blog. LOOOOVE it.
ReplyDeleteTotally dig your randomness AND you stalk PDub too?! Wicked cool sista.
I love the colder weather, and since neither of us mind doing things to stay warm, the kids usually have to beg first. It's dropped to 60 degrees in here before!
ReplyDeletePlaying a little hooky this morning and catching up on your videos that I cant watch on my phone.
ReplyDeleteWOW, I really like this!
